Hunter College Main Library
is physically accessible at the 3rd floor entrance, across a walkway leading
from the West Building. Public elevators and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible,
as are the CUNY+ terminals on all floors, and CD ROMs on the 3rd and 4th
floors.

Students with a valid
ID card from the Office of Disabled Student Services have access to the
following equipment:
- Reading Edge (room
210)
- Zoomtext software program
to enlarge CD ROM databases on video
terminals (4th floor
reference area)
- 3 talking calculators and
adapter chargers
- 1 large size tape recorder
with headphones
- 1 Braille typewriter
- 2 medium print typewriters
(located in room 205)
- 1 Visual Tek Voyager XL machine
(located in room 209)
- Franklin Language Master
6000SE, Speaking reference device,
Dictionary-Thesaurus
(at Reserve desk, 2nd floor)
- Photocopier (on 2nd floor)
Present request slips for the portable
equipment at the second floor Reserve Desk along with a current disabled
services ID card. After use, return equipment to the same desk. Equipment
in rooms 205, 208 and 209 is available through study room sign up.

Rooms
- On the 2nd floor
of the Main Library Campus, six study rooms equipped with
magnifying lamps are
set aside for the exclusive use of disabled patrons.
- To use these rooms, patrons
present their current disabled services ID card at the
Reserve Desk and sign
in.
- Room use is usually limited
to two hours; however, if no other patron applies, room
use may be extended.
- After patrons have finished
using a room, they should report that information to the
Reserve Staff.
- A study room reservation
calendar is kept at the Reserve Desk. Reservations may be
made in person,
or by calling the Reserve Desk at 772-4162.
RETURN
Interlibrary
Loan
- The library will
request materials needed for research that are not available in the
Wexler Main library.
This includes material at other CUNY schools or in other libraries.
- If the book is at the Health
Professions Library or the School of Social Work Library,
contact the 3rd floor
Circulation Desk for assistance.
For materials in
other libraries:
- Obtain an Interlibrary
Loan form from the 4th floor Reference Desk.
- Leave the completed
form at the 3rd floor Circulation Desk.
- You will be notified
when the material arrives. Normally, the process
takes two weeks
sometimes longer.
- Materials may be picked up at
the Circulation Desk.

Copying
Policies and Procedures
The library will make free copies
for disabled patrons of any material that is only available in micro format.
To request this service:
- Obtain a duplicating
form at the Microform Center on the 4th floor. The form must
be filled out
accurately and must include all requested information.
- Return completed form to the
Microform Center.
- Material should be available
within 24-48 hours.
- Pick up copies at the Microform
Center.
No material is copied
immediately or on demand.
No material can leave the
building for copying elsewhere.

Circulation Desk staff and/or
Student Aides will assist disabled patrons with photocopying as requested.
To request assistance:
- Ask at the Circulation
Desk. If available, a Student Aide will assist the patron at one of
the public copiers
or the designated copier on the 2nd floor.
- If an Aide is not immediately
available, an appointment will be made when an Aide will
be available.
