HC Libraries Welcome Prof. Danielle Becker, New Web Librarian
The HC Libraries would like to welcome Prof. Danielle Becker our new Web Librarian. Professor Becker joins us from South Dakota State University where she worked as Reference & Digital Services Librarian for two years. Professor Becker comes to Hunter College with a Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) from the Pratt Institute in New York City, and a Master in Fine Arts in Writing (MFA), from Hamline University in St. Paul Minnesota.
Previous to her appointment at SDSU, she worked as Information Specialist for the English Department of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN from 2001 to 2004, where she was involved in the design of the department’s Web sites for faculty communication & for students information and services. Before her appointment at the University of Minnesota, Professor Becker worked with American Express Financial Advisor’s Group in Minneapolis from 1996 to 2001 as Project Coordinator and Electronic Distribution Coordinator. Here she worked in the redesign and maintenance of their intranet, administered their databases and was involved in several marketing initiatives for the company.
Harry Johnson, Circulation Mgr, receives Presidential HEO Award
Mr. Harry E. Johnson, Circulation Manager at the Wexler Library, was one of the 2007 Presidential HEO Award recipients. This was the first time that a non-HEO (Mr. Johnson’s official title is Information Technology Support Assistant)was selected to receive a Presidential Higher Education Officer Award. Mr. Johnson has been associated with Hunter for his entire professional career. He graduated from the HC Music Department in 1984 and immediately accepted a full-time position in the library where he worked in the Reserve Room & Circulation Desk units for the next 10 years. In 1994, Mr. Johnson was promoted to Circulation Manager of the Wexler Library. Mr. Johnson continues to be an example of professionalism and dedication to his job in providing excellent service to the Hunter College Community. Mr. Johnson also serves as a library representative to CUNY-wide library committees and is the Open Access Policy Coordinator and CLICS coordinator for the HC Libraries. Following on his love and dedication for music, Mr. Johnson is the founder of the Brownsville Counselors and Sidney E. Austin Academy Cadets Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc., where has been Director, Percussion and Brass Composer and Arranger since 2000 and teaches music literacy to children and adults.
