The Hunter College Libraries offers part-time employment to students each fall and spring semester in the different libraries units, and to a lesser extent during the winter break & summer sessions. Students employed by the Libraries work between 6 and 20 hours per week depending on the needs of the hiring unit(s). The students’ work schedules are arranged according to their academic schedules. The Libraries hire both students with Federal College Work Study Assistance Program funds and those who do not qualify for such funds.
HOW TO APPLY:
Students with Federal College Work Study Assistance contract should come to the Libraries’ Administrative Suite (rm. E-213) with their CWS contracts
Students with no Federal College Work Study Assistance Program contracts can still work as either College Assistants (usually given to graduate students) or as Student Aides (usually undergraduate students). Students wishing to apply for these positions should print and fill out the CA/SA application form (see below), and bring it to the Libraries’ Administrative Suite (rm. E-213).
Students applying for employment at the Hunter College Libraries should familiarize themselves with the RULES OF CONDUCT AND GENERAL INFORMATION of the Hunter College Libraries.
To apply: print the application form, complete it, and deliver it to the library administrative offices on the second floor of Main Library.

College Assistants (CA) Position overview:
Individual would be trained to search the library catalog (CUNY+), be trained to assist with the receipt and invoicing of orders, and perform Acquisitions office work in Excel or Word as assigned. This individual should have an aptitude for clerical and detail work and be able to follow oral and written instructions. The hours are flexible
Part time positions available at Library Systems Unit for Student Aides (SAs) duties include:
Supporting computer labs, computer set-up, staff the Help Desk, assist library faculty, software/hardware updates, basic network maintenance which includes Basic knowledge of OS (Windows XP, Mac OSX), MS Office suite & Adobe, and web applications (Flash & Dreamweaver). Individuals must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
Part time positions available at Library Systems Unit for College Assistant (CAs) duties include:
Supporting student labs, web page development, program/design, assisting library faculty, software/hardware upgrades and network maintenance.
Must have GOOD background on:OS (Windows XP & Mac OSX), web applications (Flash & Dreamweaver), programming (Visual Basic, PHP) and networks.
Individuals must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
